Science Lab Technologists Applaud NBSA, Seek Strategic Role Placement
The National Association of Science Laboratory Technologists of Nigeria (NASLT), FCT Branch, has commended the management of the National Blood Service Agency (NBSA) for fostering a conducive and enabling environment for the delivery of professional services.
During a courtesy visit to the agency, the delegation led by Dr. Alu Adaeze Joy, Chairperson of the FCT Branch, called for the strategic incorporation of laboratory technologists into roles that align with their core competencies. She emphasized the need for their expertise to be utilized in critical areas such as quality control and assurance, regulatory laboratories, medical supply and storage, as well as research and development.
In response, the Director General of NBSA, Prof. Saleh Yuguda, acknowledged existing challenges in staff welfare and professional placement. He assured the delegation of targeted interventions to resolve these issues, including efforts to dismantle inter-service professional rivalries and enhance equitable representation across all disciplines.
Prof. Yuguda further pledged to address any placement gaps and reaffirmed his commitment to creating a competitive and inclusive working environment. He assured the association that all professional interests would be integrated into a unified operational framework grounded in fairness and professionalism.
“All professionals are working for the good of the system with the aim of attaining our given mandate,” he concluded.
