Resident Doctors Pledge Commitment to Blood Donation in Gombe, Honor NBSA DG
The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) from Federal Teaching Hospital , Gombe and Gombe State University paid a courtesy visit to the National Blood Service Agency (NBSA), pledging their commitment to voluntary blood donation in the state. Their visit was in honor of the agency’s Director General, Prof. Saleh Yuguda, whom they described as a teacher, mentor, and pathfinder.
During the meeting, Prof. Yuguda expressed his appreciation for the gesture and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the healthcare system. He assured the resident doctors of his dedication to ensuring the availability of safe blood for all Nigerians in need. He also emphasized the importance of collaboration in advancing public health initiatives.
The association further pledged its support for the proposed World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) 2025 celebrations and expressed readiness to partner with the NBSA on future projects. Prof. Yuguda welcomed the association’s commitment and assured them of an open-door policy for collaboration in all possible areas.
Speaking during the visit, the President of the ARD, Federal Teaching Hospital ,Gombe ,Dr Salihu Ibrahim praised Prof. Yuguda’s outstanding contributions to medical education and mentorship in Gombe. He highlighted how the DG’s leadership and dedication have shaped the careers of many medical professionals. The ARD President also commended the Federal Government for appointing Prof. Yuguda to a national role, acknowledging his capacity to drive meaningful healthcare reforms.
The visit underscored the growing partnership between medical professionals and blood service agencies in promoting voluntary blood donation and enhancing healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
