Reps pledge support to blood service delivery

House Committee on Specialty Healthcare Visits National Blood Service Commission
 The House Committee on Specialty Healthcare, led by Deputy Chairman Hon. Lawan Ali Shettima, were at the  National Blood Service Commission today on oversight visit to assess the commission’s operations and workings.
During the visit, the lawmakers acknowledged the challenges facing Nigeria’s blood service and pledged to collaborate with the commission to address these challenges through necessary interventions, including funding. This aims to meet the country’s blood needs.
Professor Saleh Yuguda, Director General of the National Blood Service Commission, assured the lawmakers of the commission’s commitment to providing safe and quality blood services to Nigerians. He welcomed the National Assembly’s intervention, expressing readiness to work together to improve the country’s blood service.
This visit marks a significant step towards addressing the challenges in Nigeria’s blood service, with the promise of collaboration and support from the National Assembly.

PUBLIC NOTICE

This is to inform the general public that the nomenclature of the National Blood Service Commission (NBSC) has been changed to the National Blood Service Agency (NBSA).

This is in line with the directives of Mr. President, Bola Ahmed Tinibu, to implement the recommendation of the review of the reports and white paper on the restructuring and rationalization of the Federal government Parastatals, Agencies and Commissions.

To this effect, the Agency will be known and addressed as the National Blood Service Agency (NBSA). This agency will continue to be supervised by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and retain its mandate which is to “Regulating, Coordinating and ensuring the provision of sufficient and safe, quality, accessible blood and blood products to all the people of Nigeria, in an impartial an affordable manner”.

Consequently, all correspondence should be addressed to the National Blood Service Agency (NBSA) The General Public is once again assured that the National Blood Service Agency (NBSA) is repositioned to provide better service to all Nigerians.
