ICPC Inaugurates Anti-Corruption Unit at National Blood Service Commission

To curb corruption in government offices, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has established an Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) at the National Blood Service Commission.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Olusegun Adigun, representing the ICPC Chairman, emphasized that the unit’s establishment aligns with ICPC’s mandate to prevent corrupt practices in government offices. The ACTU will educate and guide staff and management on the dangers of corruption, promoting transparency and accountability.

Prof. Saleh Yuguda, Director General of the National Blood Service Commission, commended ICPC for the initiative and pledged the commission’s commitment to upholding the unit’s mandate. He also urged the inaugurated committee members to conduct themselves with fairness, guided by good conscience, and avoid witch-hunts and malice.

The establishment of the ACTU at the National Blood Service Commission marks a significant step towards combating corruption and promoting transparency in government agencies. With this unit in place, the commission is poised to make significant strides in ensuring accountability and integrity in its operations.

The Anti corruption and Transparency Unit is chaired by Dr Lawal Muhammad,the Director of Regulation at the National Blood Service Commission.

This is to inform the general public that the nomenclature of the National Blood Service Commission (NBSC) has been changed to the National Blood Service Agency (NBSA).

This is in line with the directives of Mr. President, Bola Ahmed Tinibu, to implement the recommendation of the review of the reports and white paper on the restructuring and rationalization of the Federal government Parastatals, Agencies and Commissions.

To this effect, the Agency will be known and addressed as the National Blood Service Agency (NBSA). This agency will continue to be supervised by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and retain its mandate which is to “Regulating, Coordinating and ensuring the provision of sufficient and safe, quality, accessible blood and blood products to all the people of Nigeria, in an impartial an affordable manner”.

Consequently, all correspondence should be addressed to the National Blood Service Agency (NBSA) The General Public is once again assured that the National Blood Service Agency (NBSA) is repositioned to provide better service to all Nigerians.
